Maa Archana Yoga Bharati
Background
Yoga is a vast discipline aimed at integrating mind, body and spirit to achieve a state of enlightenment or self-realization. Yoga is a science of right living and it works wonders when integrated into our daily life. It works on all aspects of the person – the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. The different branches of Yoga prescribe different approaches and techniques, but ultimately lead to the same goal of enlightenment.
In spite of the advancement in the conventional health care delivery system, the number of psycho-somatic and non-communicable diseases is alarmingly increasing. Hectic modern lifestyle and the growing stress among the people worsens the health care scenario further. Yoga & Naturopathy – primarily being focusing on lifestyle change and effective stress management – is increasing in demand day by day.
However, the facilities for Yoga & Naturopathy treatment are not adequate to the extent of demand. There is a need to provide more facility for the common people, who are really looking towards these disciplines for promotion of health and to have solace from the disease conditions. Government alone cannot make Naturopathy and Yoga to reach each and every one.
Maa Archana Yoga Bharati
With this background, as a Non-Government Organization, Sree Satyananda Mahapeeth has established a Yoga Center with AYUSH facilities in the name of “Maa Archana Yoga Bharati” at the Mahapeeth premises. COURSE # 1 – YOGA & VEDIC LIFESTYLE
Maa Archana Yoga Bharati has started a residential course to provide basic training in the practical aspects of yoga and ashram life based on the classical systems for the holistic growth of the student. The fully residential Yoga & Vedic Lifestyle Course provides the opportunity for systematic and sequential practice of the techniques and practices. Daily practice allows the awareness to extend more deeply into the body, mind and emotions, prana, and all aspects of human experience.
Daily Hatha Yoga classes are conducted for the health and well being of the physical body and the regulation of prana, and Raja Yoga techniques are practiced for the relaxation and concentration of mind. Students join with the ashram residents and guests in the daily ashram activites for the practice of Karma Yoga, developing balance and skill in action. Bhakti Yoga and Jnana Yoga are practiced in daily evening Sadhana, to experience the positive qualities within oneself and in life. Such daily practice allows one to discover and develop the positive aspects of one’s nature and being.
Completion of the course does not entitle one to teach yoga. Rather, it provides a foundation for further experience and learning, and develops the inspiration to pursue and deepen one’s own practice.

COURSE # 2 – ASHRAM LIFESTYLE
Since ancient times the aim of an ashram was not just to provide a place of retreat and relaxation, but also to create a place where people live and work together. Sometimes it is believed that spiritual growth takes place only through meditation but this is not correct. When you practice meditation together with Karma Yoga, growth is very fast.
In the ashram you do not meditate all day, but you work all day. You learn to see divine grace while caring for the cows, working as a gardener, in the kitchen cooking or cutting the vegetables, while serving food, cleaning the toilet. The residents of the ashram live a very simple life and visitors and guests have to learn to adapt to this simplicity. Ashram Life is for sincere aspirants wanting the opportunity to experience traditional Gurukul lifestyle and follow the daily ashram routine of Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga.
This unique lifestyle brings inspiration and upliftment to those who immerse themselves fully in the ashram routine in the spirit of seva, selfless service, while maintaining the ashram discipline. Ashram Life does not cater for those wanting to learn Hatha Yoga or Raja Yoga. It is designed for those who want to live yoga rather than just learn it. Ashram Life is an important medium for character and personality building, bringing fresh energy, momentum and direction into people’s lives.
One can visit the Mahapeeth at Baruipur to attend a course or just to experience ashram life.
COURSE # 3 – YOGA EDUCATION COURSE
The Yoga Education course is designed for those who wish to teach yoga within their community and provides a solid foundation upon which to integrate yoga into your own life and that of others.
On completion of the course each participant will receive a certificate.
